Brian Grossenbacher earned his undergraduate degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana and a Masters degree in education from Montana State University. Brian and his wife Jenny live in Bozeman, Montana with their two daughters Mackenzie and Sable. Brian began guiding fly fishing trips in Southwest Montana in 1992 and wrote his first book Tying Flies Workstation in 1996 which sold over 60,000 copies.
For over ten years Brian worked (using the term loosely) as a fly fishing model and was able to fish in some of the finest locations in the world including Argentina, the Bahamas, Belize, Mexico, and throughout the western US. Although he didn't even own a camera during that time, he worked with some of the greatest photographers in the industry. Aside from the pamphlet that came with his first Nikon camera, this was his only education in photography.
Brian began taking photos in 2005 when working on his second book which he co-authored with his wife, Fly Fishing Montana. Since that time his work has appeared on over two dozen magazine and book covers including American Angler, The Drake, Fly Fisherman, Fly Fish America, Fly Rod and Reel and Trout magazines. His hunting and fishing photos have appeared in Grays Sporting Journal, Field and Stream and Outside's Go Magazine. His work has also been featured in advertising and promotional materials for Orvis, Simms, Cloudveil, and Trout Unlimited.
Brian is fortunate enough to spend over 200 days a year on the water guiding, fishing and taking photos.
